Principle business activities

Auspine Limited, a publicly listed company, is Australia's largest non-government producer of radiata pine. Auspine's Tasmanian operations are centred in Scottsdale where approximately 310 people are employed.

Auspine is the largest vertically integrated softwood based forestry company in Australia and is involved in the growing and harvesting, manufacturing and sales of timber products in both domestic and export markets.

Auspine Tree Farms in Northern Tasmania harvests plantation radiata pine under access agreements, and value-adds through manufacturing and preservative treatment. Auspine products are then marketed and distributed throughout Tasmania and to the mainland.

The Scottsdale facilities produces treated wood products. Total output capacity is around 160,000 cubic metres. Auspine's sawmilling and preservative treatment plant in Scottsdale chips radiata pine for export on a smaller scale.

Performance

Profit after tax for the year 2005-2006 was $14.3 million, up from $12.8 million in the previous year.
