In June 2007, Transend forecast electrical energy use in Tasmania growing at an average of 1.34% per annum between 2007 and 2021. The forecast takes account of the impact of natural gas which, although making progress in the Tasmanian market, has had limited impact to date on electricity use.
The Tasmanian Infrastructure Report Card 2005 states that forecasts indicate generation capacity is expected to remain well above demand until the year 2012, with an adequate energy supply for the medium term.
