ACL Bearing Company is a division of Automotive Components Ltd., which was formed in 1986 from a division of Repco Pty. Ltd. ACL operates in Rocherlea, near Launceston.
ACL is Australia's sole manufacturer of precision engine bearings and automotive powder metallurgy products and supplies the four domestic vehicle manufacturers as well as exporting to 55 countries.
The company manufactures engine bearings predominantly for passenger car applications, in the original equipment and replacement markets, as well as powder metallurgy products for automotive, white goods, and other engineering applications.
Markets include:
- Ford Motor Company of Australia, Holden's Engine Company and Toyota Motor Corporation Australia Limited
- Second Tier OEM suppliers including ION Automotive
- the engine rebuilding industry
- replacement markets in 55 countries around the world.
Performance
The ACL Group has sales of $65m per annum and employs 400 people (285 in Launceston).
